We had a great meeting last night (5/8/14) at Warren and Robert’s house on Caine Avenue. Joined by Sandra Zuniga and Rodney Hampton from SF DPW and Julia Brashares from SF Parks Alliance, we voted for fiscal sponsorship with SF Parks Alliance. We are thrilled to have found such a great partner to work with! Other great news is collaboration with San Francisco Art Academy University‘s landscaping department and students, with the support of SFAAU Director Heather Clendenin and Sandra Zuniga (DPW). Thank you Sandra for making this connection for us! What an auspicious collaboration – we are in awe of the things that are possible. Josiah Avenue neighbor Connie Adamopoulos (Organized Chaos) finally made it to our meeting and invited everyone to her home for a potluck lunch, after the next clean up morning on June 21st (9am-12pm, location tbd). We’ll invite Supervisor John Avalos, Heather Clendenin, teachers and students from SFAAU, and dignitaries from DPW. Other news from Connie is the tree planting drive from SF Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF), happening in June. An informational Happy Hour is scheduled for firday May 16th, 6:30-7:30PM at Ave Bar on 1607 Ocean Avenue (@Capitol). Let’s create an urban forest in our Ingleside, green our blocks and create clean air together!
Our next meeting on Thursday June 12th will be 7-8:30pm at the Ingleside Library (we hope to get the community room back again), where we’ll prepare for the clean up, divide upcoming tasks, look at summer workshops, funding sources and our design options for Ridge Lane. Thank you to our wonderful neighbors, our supporters from the city and to everyone who’s ready to join our efforts to create safety, beauty and prosperity on the Ingelside’s ‘Columbia Heights’ hill….
Hello Everyone, Great report. -RM
