May 2 meeting minutes:
In attendance: Mary Beth, Barbara, Danielle, Lynn and Savannah
Financials:
Moneka should have access to quarterly financial report; please confirm.
Budget:
Mary Beth finished the budget and Savannah approved on the call.
Bollards:
Have been ordered and are set to arrive June 5th. They will be delivered to Danielle and Danielle will deliver to Robert. Thank you for managing, Barbara!
Dog waste station:
Mary Beth installed the dog waste station—thanks! She will take charge of emptying weekly. Mary Beth is also working on attaching a cigarette butt collector to this station.
Keys:
Just as an FYI: Mary Beth has P4 irrigation lockbox key, the dog waste bag key, and the spigot key.
Landscape:
Want to use money in hand to hire professionals to do a big clean up of Parcels 2 and 3, and a clean up of Parcels 1 and 4 at least twice a year. Savannah knows someone who cleans Corbett Heights once a month ($240). Savannah to send the person’s information to the google group. Other ideas are Rock and Rose. Does anyone else have a suggestion of who to contact?
Irrigation:
Mary Beth will follow up with Eric to see if any action should be taken on the P1 irrigation after he looked at it on April 1.
Lick Wilmerding volunteers:
Mary Beth will reach out to DPW to let them know that we are available before the end of the year if the group is looking for another volunteer opportunity at Ridge Lane.
Heart Your Parks:
Fundraiser for Parks Alliance by activation team. Events that are free for the publics. SFPA also applies for grants from city, etc. All of the money is to cover operating costs. There is one grant that SFPA does grant to other groups, but RLN is not a likely recipient: Shine on Action awards –smaller scale awards ($5k) for recurring (monthly, bi-monthly) events.
Community Challenge Grants:
Cycle opens in October; apply by December; grant funds would be for the next year. $175,000 is the max.
Jazz in the Gardens:
Danielle will confirm the September 10th date with Maurice.
Public Space Summit:
Thanks to Robert and Moneka for speaking on behalf of Ridge Lane Neighbors at the Summit on May 11th.
Expanding focus:
Public Safety – Mary Beth did NERT training and thought about getting a group for training in this neighborhood. Would need ~20-30 people and long full commitment, and is probably not a reasonable option. Barbara is thinking more about knowing your neighbors and knowing who would need help in an emergency—pre-2020, she was talking to someone involved in the Cayuga group about this concept and will try to reach out again to see if she’d be willing to come to an upcoming meeting (perhaps the meeting in July) to share some lessons learned that we could use to mobilize the neighborhood in a similar way.
Phone group– Barbara would like to gather group members phone numbers for emergency purposes.
